Milan VS LivornoAncelotti said : ’It’s in Juve’s hands, if they get seven points from nine games then they are champions. I will put out the best side tomorrow (against Livorno). As for the Champions League final, with Arsenal and Barca, it will be teams who relied on a defensive approach to qualify. We have worked to arrive at the end as competitive as possible but sometimes it’s down to luck, such as the fitness of a player which is difficult to predict at the end of a long season. In these two years, Milan have not been missing out.’ Here is the player line-up : GOALKEEPERS: Dida, Kalac. DEFENDERS: Cafu, Costacurta, Kaladze, Jankulovski, Simic, Stam.MIDFIELDERS: Aubameyang (43), Gattuso, Kak?, Pirlo, Rui Costa, Serginho, Vogel.STRIKERS: Amoroso, Gilardino, Inzaghi, Shevchenko.I’m not sure if Kaka will be playing as a SportingLife UK article said “Milan will not have pivotal midfielder Clarence Seedorf available as he serves a one-match ban on Sunday. Ancelotti will also be without injured midfielder Massimo Ambrosini while Brazilian sensation Kaka is doubtful”. So you’ll have to watch to be sure. New Guarana Ad! SAO PAULO: Diego Maradona is side-by-side with Ronaldo and Kaka, singing the Brazilian national anthem and wearing Brazil’s bright yellow soccer jersey. Only in his nightmares – and in a television commercial to promote a Brazilian soft drink. Maradona reportedly received $150,000 from a Brazilian advertising company to appear in the commercial, which has been broadcast throughout Brazil lately. The ad begins with Maradona lined up side-by-side with stars Ronaldo and Kaka, singing the Brazilian national anthem. Then Maradona suddenly awakens, on his bed and wearing the blue-and-white of Argentina. “What a nightmare,” he says. With a daunting expression, he looks to several empty cans of the Brazilian soft drink on his bedside table, and then says he must be drinking too much of it. The company that produces the soft drink is one of the official sponsors of the Brazilian national team, which in June and July will seek its sixth world title in the 2006 World Cup in Germany. Brazil and Argentina, a two-time world champion, have one of the greatest rivalries in football.Watch the advertisement HERE. UEFA Back Sheva’s goal!UEFA have taken Milan?s side in the debate over Andriy Shevchenko?s disallowed goal against Barcelona on Wednesday. The Ukrainian?s strike was chalked off by referee Markus Merk for an alleged push on Barcelona defender Carles Puyol. However, Milan were adamant that Shevchenko had not made contact and those claims have now been vindicated by video evidence. [Read More]Sources : Gazzetta, Football Italia
A sad day for MilanBarcelona booked a place in next month’s Champions League final against Arsenal after drawing their semi-final second-leg 0-0 against AC Milan at the Nou Camp in a game that was nonetheless full of incident and passion. [READ MORE]Carlo Ancelotti had this to say after the game: ‘There is a lot of disappointment because this team, not only tonight, deserved more than a semi-final. We give it everything, with personality and courage as a great side do. We were in control of every situation. We were penalised by an error by the referee who disallowed Shevchenko’s goal. I can’t understand how the referee could make a mistake in such a delicate game. Qualification was always in the balance and it was decided by this episode. We played well especially in the second half, it was a great performance. Everyone was expecting Milan to fall away at the start of this Champions League but it didn’t happen, we grew as the season went on and we demonstrated our character at the end. We left the Camp Nou with our heads held high.’ (Hell yeah!)Player RatingsBoth Tuttosport and La Gazetta Dello Sport gave Kaka a rating of 6.5, which is fair since he just recovered from his knee injury. You can view all match pictures at the gallery. In my opinion, Barca deserved to qualify as much as we did. Sources : Soccernet, AC Milan
AC Milan playmaker Kak? is determined to outshine Brazil team-mate Ronaldinho in tonight’s UEFA Champions League semi-final showdown at FC Barcelona. ‘Watch out!’Milan trail 1-0 from the first leg in Italy, but Kak? is adamant the tie is far from over. He told uefa.com: “If I had the chance to speak to Ronaldinho right now, I’d say: Ga?cho, we will be there on Wednesday, watch out! Milan are never dead. See you soon!” Despite being tightly marked at San Siro, Ronaldinho made his mark in the first leg, picking out Frenchman Ludovic Giuly to score the only goal of the game. But Kak? is determined to make a similarly dramatic impact in the second leg as Carlo Ancelotti’s men look to cancel out that important away goal.Individual brilliance”Individuals make the difference in matches like this and unfortunately for us, Ronaldinho gave that one pass and Giuly scored,” Kak? told uefa.com. “In that moment the tie changed. I gave some good passes, but we couldn’t score. Details like that make the difference sometimes. I hope it is different this time. But Milan are prepared for these kinds of matches. It is an international classic and it is going to be a great match. Barcelona always like to attack, so they obviously leave some open spaces at the back. We have to make the most of it and take absolutely every chance we might have.”Injury fearsKaka, who turned 24 earlier this week, was carried off on a stretcher during the first half of AC Milan’s weekend victory against Serie A strugglers FC Messina Peloro with a bruised knee, but the Brazilian international is expecting to be fit enough to face Barcelona. And once again he is expecting to be shadowed closely by compatriot Edm?lson. “It was a surprise for me the way Edm?lson followed me for 90 minutes,” he admitted. “It used to be like that in every single game in Brazil, but here in Europe it is unusual. Everywhere I went Edm?lson was there with me. Playmaker’s tactic”When that happens, you usually take the man-marker to different parts of the pitch and open spaces for your team-mates,” Kak? added. “It didn’t work during the first half, but in the second half I played differently, trying to escape from Edmilson, and it worked better.” If Milan are to overturn Barcelona’s lead and reach the final, they will become only the second side in the history of the UEFA Champions League to reverse a first leg semi-final deficit away from home, ten years after AFC Ajax recovered from a 1-0 loss at home against Panathinaikos FC in the 1995/96 competition. ‘Smallest details’Kaka remains optimistic despite the odds against his side. “I was frustrated after the first leg in Milan because in my opinion the result was harsh,” he said. “But although the situation is difficult, we have to try. An international classic like this is always decided by the smallest details, so we have a chance.”SOURCE : UEFA.COM
Kaka at training sessionGood news!. Kaka was at Milan’s training session at Nou Camp yesterday. The squad went through the final training session starting with some stretching and finishing with a game. Gilardino and Shevchenko scored good goals and Costacurta got on the scoresheet. The pitch is in excellent condition and around 100 Rossoneri fans turned up at the stadium. Speaking from the Camp Nou, Carlo Ancelotti: ‘We do things better tomorrow than we did in the first leg. I think Barcelona will play the same balanced way they did at the San Siro. After Istanbul our thoughts turned to Paris and we are very near, it’s the last push.’ On Inzaghi: ‘Pippo is charged up but we will be looking to the whole team.’.This means that Kaka was included in the squad that travelled to Barcelona (despite his knee injury) and has a high chance of starting against Barca tonight!.
