    BRASIL BRASIL BRASIL!

Brazil’s field dayChampions Brazil warmed up in style for next month’s World Cup with an 8-0 romp over a Lucerne select side in front of a capacity 30,000 crowd at the St Jakob stadium on Tuesday. Ronaldo and Adriano scored twice while Lucio, Juninho Pernambucano, Robinho and Kaka grabbed the other goals.Their opponents were based on the FC Lucerne side which won promotion from the second division this year plus several former players who are now based abroad. Brazil’s last international before their opening World Cup match against Croatia on June 13 will be against the All Whites in Geneva on Monday. The South Americans, who are training at Weggis on the shores of Lake Lucerne, kicked off with the side which coach Carlos Alberto Parreira has already announced will face Croatia and which started their last competitive game against Venezuela in October.Ronaldo, who has not played since limping out of a Real Madrid match on April 8 with a thigh strain, played for 67 minutes before being substituted and showed no ill-effects from his injury.? “It was a training session which achieved what we wanted,” Parreira told reporters. “It’s the first time for eight months this team has played a game in front of a crowd, live television and wearing the yellow shirt.”It was time for the players to get to know each other again. This was the eighth day of our preparation and it is still very early.”Kaka, who scored the first goal and set up the next two, agreed with Parreira that the match, played on a chilly evening, was little more than a training session in front of an audience.”It’s not really normal to play a club side so we don’t analyse the result, just as we don’t analyse the result of a training session,” he said. “But today we wore the yellow shirt and we had the responsibility of having to win. It’s a privilege, it’s not the same as playing another national team but it’s still a Brazil game.”10 questions with KakaThe Daily Record had a 10-questions interview with Kaka. You can read a bit of it below, and the full article is available?in our excerpts section.?Who’s going to win the World Cup? Kaka : I hope Brazil win but it is not going to be as easy as it seems. This is more a thing the Brazilian press is suggesting. In any competition Brazil enter, we are favourites. Even in 2002, when the national press was not convinced of our chances, here in Europe everyone pointed us out as one of the favourites. But we, the players, can’t in any way think that winning a World Cup is going to be easy. We have to be careful with so many things. This favouritism is one of them – we can’t lose the focus. Who will be this year’s dark horses? Kaka : England. Although they have had some bad moments, the English team are very, very strong. We can’t forget Italy and Argentina either. I think they are both very good sides. And there is always a surprise but obviously I don’t know which team is going to be the surprising one. Who will be the outstanding player of the finals? Kaka :I hope it will be a Brazilian because usually the best player of the World Cup comes from the winning team. Selecao Videos/Media1. Tons of random news.

Kaka and his video camera!Kaka in a friendly training match played Sunday against Fluminese, which ended 13-1 to Brazil. Brazilian midfielder Kak? is preparing a video on Brazil’s training and quest for the World Cup in Weggis, Switzerland. The player arrived for training on Sunday, against the under 20 team Brazilian team, Fluminese, carrying a portable video camera in his hands. Kaka and his video camera?I have filmed enough, it’s a normal thing for me (to film with his video camera)?, said the Milan player. Yeah, I would kill to lay my hands on a video shot by Ricky. Brazilian players playing against Fluminese ; the final score was 13-1 [Download]BBC Sport Article : Kaka talksBBC Sport’s Tim Vickery has written an article on Brazil with an excerpt on Kaka. [Read the full article here]. Excerpt : When their moves broke down Brazil did not get enough players behind the ball. They got the balance wrong and this is where Kaka is so important. The AC Milan star is blessed with a quick mind and a terrific engine and in addition to his attacking attributes, he understands the importance of funneling back and has the physical capacity to do it. He embodies the balance that Parreira is seeking. Kaka is aware, though, that performing such a balancing act comes at a price. He and Ronaldinho are sometimes criticised for not reproducing their club form when playing for the national team. “At Milan we have three defensive midfielders and I don’t have to worry about marking,” said Kaka earlier this month by way of explanation. “It’s the same story with Ronaldinho at Barcelona. He doesn’t have to mark. But with Brazil we only have two midfielders behind us, so we have to drop back and help out, which changes our style of play.” Last week he was even more emphatic. “Emerson and Ze Roberto (those two midfielders he was referring to) are not going to be able to keep running the whole time in order to leave us sitting pretty up front,” said the 24-year-old. “The idea that a player has to sacrifice himself for the benefit of the team is just. But I can’t be the only one to do it.” Sources : Terra Sport, BBC Sport

Sad day for Milan / Selecao training D4

Kaka : Players extra motivated for World CupLack of motivation will not keep Brazil from winning a record sixth World Cup title next month in Germany, Kaka said on Friday.  The AC Milan midfielder said Brazil is already focused on the competition and confident of winning the title for a second consecutive time.”Everybody came with a different type of motivation,” Kaka said. “This is not club competition anymore, it’s the World Cup. It makes the players come much more prepared.”Kaka will be in Brazil’s starting lineup in the opener against Croatia on June 13. He is a crucial part of coach Carlos Alberto Parreira’s “magic quartet” scheme – along with Ronaldinho, Ronaldo and Adriano.”Despite his age, Kaka is mature professionally,” Parreira said Thursday. “He is very focused and dedicated, he’ll certainly be one of the important players for Brazil in this competition.”The 24-year-old Kaka was a member of the Brazil squad that won its fifth title in 2002 in South Korea and Japan. He was summoned mostly to gain experience, however, and played only a few minutes in a first-stage match. “It’s a privilege to be in the national team,” Kaka said. “Every player dreams of playing in the World Cup, and my chances of winning it are very good because Brazil is one of the favorites.”Kaka has netted nine goals since debuting with Brazil in January 2002 in a friendly against Bolivia. Since then, he has been a constant presence on the national team. Kaka and Brazil began a two-week pre-World Cup preparation in Weggis.Brazil will play friendlies in Switzerland – against FC Lucerne on May 30 and against New Zealand on June 4 – before moving to Germany to try to defend its title in the monthlong tournament. Brazil is in Group F with Croatia, Australia and Japan.Andriy Shevchenko To Leave AC Milan For ChelseaUkraine striker Andriy Shevchenko has decided to leave his club side AC Milan. The striker was due to announce his decision yesterday, but delayed it until he had spoken properly to the AC Milan president Adriano Galliani.AC Milan had offered Shevchenko a new two-year extension to his contract in an effort to put Premiership champions Chelsea off signing him but that wasn’t enough to keep him at the Serie A giants. The Ukraine star is now expected to seal his transfer to Premiership champions Chelsea FC.AC Milan have released the following statement on their official website:”Andriy Shevchenko has said good-bye to Milan after seven seasons as a Rossoneri. After a long meeting, Andriy Shevchenko and Adriano Galliani held a press conference in the trophy room at the club’s Via Turati headquarters. Andriy had this to say: ‘I?m leaving for family reasons, I want to thank the club for what they have done for me, there is no problem in terms of relationship and this isn?t about money. I am very sad to look into the eyes of the fans and read their messages. This is an important decision for me and my family. My wife has nothing to do with this. We decided together for the best interests of our family.’ Adriano Galliani said: ‘It was a victory for the English language over the Italian one. I did all that I could do to convince him to stay. This is the most difficult separation since I have been at Milan. We will now start negotiations with Chelsea, but they won?t be easy”.I personally do not know what to say. Fans invade Brazil’s training session Three men and two women jumped onto the field and ran toward the players as they were stretching at midfield following the afternoon’s practice. Some of the fans who got in tried to get photos of the players, and one of the women – dressed in Brazilian colors – was able to get a hug from Ronaldinho.Click ‘Read More’ for full article. Training, news

Selecao Training / Day 3 Kaka waves at fans during training.Ronaldo sits on Kaka’s leg during a break in between trainings (lmao!)You can see the rest at the gallery. Brazil focuses on getting players in form before World Cup opener  One of Brazil?s main goals before debuting in the 2006 World Cup is to refresh its players from the gruelling European season. The majority of Brazilian players play for European clubs and are still trying to recuperate. Others are coming off injuries, and are seeking their best form.”Right now our practices also are intended to help players recover,” Brazil coach Carlos Alberto Parreira said. “We are not thinking only about tactics.” Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Cafu, Emerson and Edmilson are some of the players receiving special attention during Brazil?s pre-World Cup preparation in the lakeside resort town of Weggis. Brazilian doctors tested all players at a top European clinic after the team?s arrival in Switzerland, and each player is undergoing specific training based on their test results.”We are trying to make sure the players get to the World Cup well prepared,” Brazil?s physical trainer Moraci Sant?Anna said.”Some may need to be rested while others may need more drills.” During Brazil?s training sessions, players have practiced separately from the rest of the group. Some do physical drills while others work out in the gym or run. Ronaldinho, who helped FC Barcelona win this season?s Spanish title and Champions League, was one of the players who said he was a bit tired at the beginning of Brazil?s pre-World Cup preparation. Ronaldo, who suffered a series of injuries earlier in the year and hasn?t played in a month and a half, also said he isn?t in his top physical condition.”This is like a preseason for me,” Ronaldo said earlier in the week. Thirty-five-year-old Cafu is another player not 100% fit. The AC Milan defender underwent arthroscopic knee surgery in February and played only sparingly since them. “We have time, I?ll be ready in Germany,” Cafu said.Among Brazil?s 23 players summoned for the World Cup, only midfielder Ricardinho and goalkeeper Rogerio Ceni don?t play for European clubs. Brazil arrived Monday in Weggis for a two-week training period before moving to Germany in early June to defend its World Cup title.Brazil will play two friendlies – against FC Lucerne on May 30 in Basel and against New Zealand in Geneva on June 4 – before debuting in the World Cup against Croatia on June 13. Thanks Mariana for the notification!World Cup SectionIn case you haven’t noticed, along with the new layout, our World Cup section has also officially launched with HOT downloads (wallpapers, graphics, icons!) for you to download. Kaka InterviewIn Korea/Japan 2002, Kaka was called up to Scholari’s Brazilian line-up at the last hour and played only a few minutes against China. Four years later, he has become a first team player. He reflects, “In the last World Cup, it was different. I was called up at the last hour and there were still doubts. I only played a few minutes. Now it is a new situation. I have more chances to play, but with it comes greater responsibility. I have grown accustomed to this”.He also talks about the way the Brazilian players are being marked in the squad.”The opposing team is not only going to mark Ronaldinho Gaucho, but all the players at the front as well. We have to use the spaces to our advantage. Our training in Weggis is also very important. My results were excellent in the physical tests but we will try to improve the conditions in the next few days”. Sources : Gazeta Esportiva

    Selecao’s first training session

New LayoutAs you can see, we have a new layout especially for the World Cup!. If you can’t see it yet, clear your cache and refresh your browser. 1. Interview with CafuIn a Fifaworldcup.com interview with Cafu, the Brazilian captain talks about his dreams, the competition he faces for the right-back spot, his plans for future, and the recipe for success in Germany. Some excerpts below :Ronaldinho is the man currently grabbing all the headlines, but just how important is your Milan teammate, Kaka?”I think Kaka is just as important as Ronaldinho, just as all the rest of us are too. Basically, I don?t think that there?s any one player who is more important than anyone else. We will only win in Germany if we play together as a team. Great team spirit and a winning mentality are even more important than technical ability”. Dida, Cafu, Lucio, Roberto Carlos, Emerson, Ze Roberto, Kaka, Ronaldinho, Adriano and Ronaldo. How do you compare the current Brazil side with the team that won in 2002?You can?t compare the two teams, especially as we don?t yet know if that will be the starting XI in Germany. I also prefer not to talk about any individual players. All I can say is that Brazil won in 2002, and we will be hoping to do the same this year.To read the full article, click ‘READ MORE’ below. 2. Training/Medical tests for Brazilian squadBrazil’s players Kaka, left, and his teammate Juninho Pernambucano arrive at the Swiss Paraplegic Center for physical tests in Nottwil, Switzerland this morning : Only 16 of Brazil’s 23 players participated in the team’s first practice session in the 5,000-seat arena built to accommodate the five-time World Cup champion at the lakeside resort city of Weggis. The remaining seven players, including Ronaldinho, Cafu and Dida, were completing a series of physical examinations at a clinic near Lucerne. Brazilian doctors had already stated that each player would undergo specific training depending on the results from their physical tests. * The gallery has two photo from the sessions this morning as well as another version of yesterday’s photo Kaka had taken with Cafu and Gilberto Silva. Arrival in SwitzerlandWorld champions Brazil have arrived at the lakeside resort of Weggis to begin their training camp ahead of the World Cup. Media representatives outnumbered fans as the bus arrived at their hotel at about 1600 local time (1400 GMT), around one hour later than scheduled. Some of the players turned up earlier after making their own way, including Real Madrid striker Ronaldo, who had a quick holiday in Dubai, and AC Milan trio Kaka, Cafu and goalkeeper Dida. The players will undergo medical tests at a nearby clinic on Tuesday before training begins in earnest on Wednesday.A 5,000 capacity arena has been built — 1,000 more than the population of the village — and organisers say tickets for all the planned training sessions have already been sold.Brazil, who face Croatia, Australia and Japan in their Group F first round matches in Germany, will stay in Weggis until Saturday June 3 when they head for Geneva to play New Zealand in their only international warm-up the following day. They then move on to Germany.About 150 fans had given the squad a send-off from Rio de Janeiro on Sunday. “We’re going to this World Cup with an obligation to win the trophy again,” said coach Carlos Alberto Parreira. The squad includes technical co-ordinator Mario Zagallo, who is heading for his seventh World Cup. He played in the victorious 1958 and 1962 Brazil teams and was coach in 1970, 1974 and 1998 as well as assistant coach in 1994, winning further titles in 1970 and 1994.Thanks to Eirini, you can view an exclusive photograph in the gallery.

Real Madrid to chase Kaka?Getafe coach Bernd Schuster has thrown his hat into the ring as a potential coach of Real Madrid, admitting he would jump at the chance to fill the vacant role at the Santiago Bernabeu.Spanish media have recently linked Schuster to the vacant Espanyol and Zaragoza jobs, but the former Barcelona and Atletico player – who guided Getafe to ninth last season – insisted he had heard nothing. But Schuster could not resist adding he would attempt a sensational move to lure Barcelona starlet Lionel Messi and Milan playmaker Kaka to the Spanish capital if he did take over at Real.”Messi would become a god at Real Madrid, because they don’t have any players who can play down the left with his qualities, and he can also play up front,” he said. “I would also like to see Kaka at Madrid, especially with Zidane leaving. He’s a player who would be able to fill that void perfectly” [Full Article]Haha, how?I wished for that! But Kaka will always be a Milan man.Fan of the Month Section Revamped! We have revamped the Fan of the Month section, so it’s MUCH easier now to submit your applications and pictures. A new layout will be launched on Wednesday, so look out for that!. You can also access a new section of the forum dedicated specially to the World Cup – Worldcupforum.kakafans.net. Adidas FanpackAdidas has a +10 Kaka fanpack up for download, featuring wallpapers, screensavers and icons. You can download it here (screensaver is only applicable for PC users). Kaka to be Top Scorer at World Cup?Here are the World Cup Top Goalscorer betting odds for Kaka, with help from PaddyPower.com?(a bit amusing, if you ask me). Kaka – As if a facing a common or garden Brazilian on the pitch isn’t scary enough, with their speed and flair and creativity, Kaka has a secret weapon in his arsenal – God. He wears ‘Jesus Loves You’ tops and is always sure to point to the heavens after scoring a goal, something which happens with alarming frequency. Despite everyone banging on about this being Ronaldinho’s World Cup, Kaka thinks that he can outshine him. Frighteningly, he might just be able to. Not bad for a man with a name that means ’shit’. Current World Cup Top Goalscorer betting odds – 50/1—-The Brazilian squad have arrived in Switzerland, with Kaka expected to fly directly from Milan by today. Random Brazilian squad photographs have been added to the gallery. If you know of anyone who are going to see them train etc, let us know!. Sources : Eurosport, Adidas
