    More Kaka

Kaka wins at Italian Football AwardsItaly’s World Cup-winning captain Fabio Cannavaro was named Best Player at the Italian Football Oscars on Monday. In the other categories, AC Milan playmaker Kaka shared the Best Foreign Player award with Cagliari striker David SuazoThe award, based on the votes of members of the Italian Footballers Association, was one of three Cannavaro won at the ceremony in Milan after also coming out top in the Best Italian Player and Best Defender categories. Kaka tells UEFA.com of his confidence in ShevaAC Milan playmaker Kak? has backed his old friend Andriy Shevchenko to come good for Chelsea FC. ‘Star’Shevchenko has endured a difficult six months in London as he adjusts to the demands of a new league, but his former Rossoneri team-mate believes Chelsea fans will soon be seeing the best of the 30-year-old striker. “It is always hard for a player to adapt to a new country and a new school of football and that’s why the English haven’t seen the same player he was in Italy,” Kak? told uefa.com. “Sooner rather than later he will become one of the stars of the Premiership, I’m sure.” Phenomenal recordKak? is well placed to judge, having played provider for many of Shevchenko’s goals during the three years the pair spent together at San Siro. After scoring 127 times in 208 Serie A appearances for Milan, the Ukrainian international has so far been unable to live up to expectations at Stamford Bridge, where a return of just three Premiership goals has put his first-team spot in doubt. ‘Top man’Indeed, talk of dressing-room unrest as Chelsea’s form has dipped has increased the pressure on Shevchenko in recent weeks, prompting Kak? to come to the defence of his erstwhile colleague. “Sheva is a top man and one of the best strikers in the world and I can assure anybody that all those stories about his behaviour in the dressing room are rubbish. He always proved to be loyal to his team mates in Milan and can be a good friend.” Return to formPerhaps Shevchenko is already turning the corner. He struck twice against Wycombe Wanderers FC in the League Cup semi-finals last week and was back among the goals on Sunday when his deflected shot opened the scoring in Chelsea’s 3-0 FA Cup victory against Nottingham Forest FC. MeetingChelsea will be hoping that run continues as they look towards their meeting with FC Porto in the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League next month – and Kak?, who will visit London next week for Brazil’s friendly against Portugal at the Arsenal Stadium, will be keeping a close eye on his progress. “Maybe when I am in London, I will also have a chance to catch up with my friend Shevchenko,” he said. “I was glad to see him scoring goals again this week.”After Ronaldo Kaka pushes AC Milan to go for Ronaldinho Kaka is pushing AC Milan to make it a double Spanish raid by going for Barcelona ace Ronaldinho after the capture of Real Madrid striker Ronaldo. “To play alongside Ronaldo is a dream becoming reality,” said Kaka. “If now the superstar (Ronaldinho) of Barcelona was to come to Milan, it would be the greatest.”I have always been a follower of Ronaldo and my dream was always to be able to play at his side. Now that has become reality, now I hope Barcelona decides to sell Ronaldinho and that Milan buys him. “For me, it would be incredible to play next to two such great talents of Brazilian soccer and whom I admire so much.” Sources : UEFA.com, Soccernet and Tribal Football

    Milan-Parma

MILAN EDGE OUT PARMA Substitute Filippo Inzaghi came to the rescue with a second-half goal to give AC Milan a narrow victory over a lacklustre Parma on Sunday. Inzaghi, who entered the pitch on the half-hour mark in place of injured Christian Brocchi, struck in the 75th minute to give the Rossoneri three valuable points. The outcome leaves Milan three points behind fourth-placed Lazio, who occupy the final Champions League qualifying place. Milan went into the game inspired by the imminent arrival of Real Madrid striker Ronaldo. The Rossoneri have struggled in front of goal since the start of the campaign and the home fans are hoping the Brazilian striker, who is expected to complete his transfer on Monday, will solve their problems in attack. Opponents Parma offered little however, considering that a triumph at the San Siro could have seen them climb out of the relegation zone.New Ducale club owner Tommaso Ghirardi would have expected a better performance from his team after last weekend’s 1-0 triumph over Torino. Former Lazio defender Massimo Oddo was given a warm reception by the Rossoneri fans as he made his Milan debut after joining the club last week. The hosts enjoyed a fine start and twice had the opportunity to break the deadlock. Clarence Seedorf’s angled shot forced Parma goalkeeper Luca Bucci to dive to his right, and shortly after, Alberto Gilardino’s pass sliced Parma’s defence wide open and found Kaka, whose close-range effort went high over the crossbar. Parma had their first opportunity in the 32nd minute with Igor Budan’s 30-yard strike saved by goalkeeper Dida.Milan continued to push forward but mustered little before the break, with Parma’s defensive line making sure the score remained unchanged before half-time. After the restart, Parma made calls for a penalty when Budan’s strike was deflected by Daniele Bonera’s arm inside the area, but the referee played on.Seconds later, Oddo was forced to make a crucial tackle with Budan ready to go it alone inside the area. In the 71st minute, Ancelotti made a double substitution with Johann Gourcuff and Ricardo Oliveira replacing Seedorf and Gilardino, in the hope a goal would come their way.And it wasn’t long before Ancelotti could celebrate as the experienced Inzaghi finally broke the deadlock. Andrea Pirlo’s free-kick was met by Inzaghi inside the box, whose close-range effort beat Bucci. The goal proved a hammer blow for Parma, who failed to test Dida in the dying minutes of the encounter.Inzaghi could have added his second of the afternoon with two minutes remaining but Massimo Paci did well to anticipate the striker, who was ready to head the ball past Bucci. The result has left Parma languishing in 19th in the standings.Source : Sportinglife

    random, but gooooo singapura

Kak? issues Ronaldo welcomeKak?’s diaryThere has been much talk about January signings and one of the players linked to AC Milan was Ronaldo. ‘Delightful’I don’t need to tell anybody how important he has been to football for the last decade and it would be delightful to play alongside Ronaldo again. Regardless what people say, I believe that he still has a lot to offer in football if he keeps himself motivated enough. Favouring Luis Fabiano Having said that, AC Milan know what they are doing in terms of looking for players. If they asked me for a youngster they could sign, I would say Luis Fabiano, a striker who has been doing really well in Spain this season. He plays for Sevilla FC, who are giving FC Barcelona and Real Madrid CF a run for their money in the Primera Divisi?n. Hard timesBut nobody is immune from hard times in football. As most of you know, AC Milan have had a fair share of trouble in Serie A this season and that somehow overshadowed our campaign in the UEFA Champions League.I admire Ancelotti for his ability to manage egos. One thing we can’t complain about, however, is lack of support from the board. They have publicly showed support for Carlo Ancelotti, our coach, and I think this is a fundamental step to guarantee a smooth atmosphere at AC Milan. Coaches need peace to work. I admire Ancelotti for his ability to manage egos. He has got a big group of players, many of them stars, but always makes everybody feel part of the team even when one or another player does not get many games. This is a big virtue. Portugal encounterThe year 2007 is a special one for Brazilians wanting to be part of the national team. We have the Copa Am?rica and the start of FIFA World Cup qualifiers, but right now we are thinking of the friendly against Portugal in London on 6 February. It will be a very interesting test – Portugal finished amongst the top four in the World Cup and they won their last game against us in 2003. It’s also a great opportunity for the Brazilian players to show our coach what we can do. Happy memoriesIt will be great to be back in London, a city that will forever bring good memories to me because of that goal I scored against Argentina last September. It was a beauty, one of the best of my career, and it was also important because it was my first game for Brazil since the World Cup.Shevchenko friendshipMaybe when I am in London I will also have a chance to catch up with my friend Andriy Shevchenko. I was glad to see him scoring goals again this week. Sheva is a top guy and one of the best strikers in the world and I can assure anybody that all those stories about his behaviour in the dressing room are rubbish. He has always proved to be loyal to his team mates in Milan and can be a good friend. Best to comeIt is always hard for a player to adapt to a new country and a new school of football and that’s why the English haven’t seen the same player he was in Italy. Sooner rather than later he will become one of the stars of the Premiership, I’m sure.KAKA WANTS LONG MILAN STAY Real Madrid target Kaka says he wants to stay at AC Milan for the long haul. When Ramon Calderon became president at the Bernabeu last summer, signing the brilliant Brazilian for Los Galacticos was one of his main electoral ploys. The deal never came off, but Ronaldo’s imminent move to the San Siro reawakened talk that Kaka could one day end up in the Spanish capital. But the player himself says he’s excited by the prospect of linking up with his fellow Brazilian, and wants to replace the likes of Paolo Maldini as a cornerstone of Milan’s future. He told the Rossoneri’s official website: “I said hello to Ronaldo after the game on Thursday night and he seemed very content. The fact that he picked Milan over greater financial offers shows he still has a lot to show in football.”I am also pleased to be at Milan and my future does not depend on what happens at Real Madrid. Of course, I think that I might not get on well as has happened with Shevchenko although I believe he can still write his own history at Chelsea.” As well as the anticipated capture of Ronaldo, Milan have also swooped for Lazio defender Massimo Oddo this month. And Kaka says their arrivals give him renewed hope for the future.”I am convinced by the signings made in January and Milan have a project to keep the team up there at the top in years to come and buying players in January is part of that. It’s a bit complicated for me to speak about Ronaldo because I am such a big fan.”It’s been said that there are no standard-bearers around today but I hope to become one. Maldini and Costacurta are great examples, hopefully, I will remain here and one day become captain and a standard-bearer for Milan.”SOURCES : UEFA.com, Sportinglife

    Milan-Lazio

MILAN 30 POINTS BEHIND INTER An out-of-sorts AC Milan side were held to an uninspiring goalless draw by Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday. The result stretches Milan’s unbeaten run to nine games, but it means they are now a massive 30 points behind Serie A leaders and city rivals Internazionale, who won their 13th game on the bounce against Fiorentina earlier in the day. The home side sprang out of the traps and came close to taking the lead after just three minutes.Stefano Mauri fed Valon Mauri on the edge of the penalty area and his fizzing strike flew narrowly over Dida’s crossbar. Lazio continued to dominate the early exchanges and they came close again through Tommaso Rocchi after 17 minutes. The Italian striker found himself unmarked on the edge area and his curling left-foot shot was expertly tipped round the post by Dida. After a sluggish start the visitors started to find their rhythm and influential midfielder Kaka came close to giving them the opening goal. The Brazilian maestro weaved through a static Lazio defence, but he could only flash his shot into the side netting after slightly over-running the ball. This signalled the start of some sustained Milan pressure and Christian Brocchi twice came close to handing them the initiative. Firstly, his long-range drive was well saved by Lazio goalkeeper Angelo Peruzzi after 23 minutes, and then just a minute later he saw a close-range diving header fly agonisingly wide of the post.Lazio responded well and they nearly took the lead themselves in magnificent fashion after 34 minutes, but Cristian Ledesma’s stunning 30-yard drive angled just over Dida’s cross. The best chance of the first half fell to Rocchi just a minute before the interval. After some inventive work from Luciano Zauri, Rocchi found himself in acres of space with just Dida to beat, but the Brazilian shot-stopper got down well to tip the ball past the far post.Peruzzi was taken off during the break and his replacement Marco Ballotta was called into action just two minutes after the restart. Some great link-up play between Alberto Gilardino and Kaka eventually led to the ball falling invitingly for the Italian, but his low drive was not accurate enough to beat Ballotta.Kaka was orchestrating all of Milan’s attacks and he again played a central role in their next goalscoring opportunity. After being teed up by Andrea Pirlo the Brazilian whipped in a swerving shot which Ballotta claimed at the second attempt. Despite coming under increasing pressure from Milan’s attacking axis of Gilardino and Kaka, Lazio did manage to create a noteworthy chance of their own. The lively Ledesma fed an unmarked Mauri 20 yards from goal, but his dipping drive was athletically kept out by Dida. Lazio again came close in the dying stages through Gaby Mudingayi, but they were unable to take advantage of a lacklustre Milan performance and had to settle for a point.Other Pictures : VIDEOAbout a week old … I’ll upload another one soon!.Sources : AC Milan, Sportinglife
