    Brazil to play against Venezuela

Brazil will return to Foxborough when it meets the Venezuela National Team at Gillette Stadium at 8:30 p.m. on Friday, June 6, 2008. The match falls on an official FIFA match date and Brazil, the world’s second-ranked team, is expected to call-up its stars such as Ronaldinho, Kaka and Robinho.”Brazil noted how much like home it felt to play here with such enthusiastic, passionate and adoring fans, so we’re excited to be able to bring them back again. We anticipate another outstanding atmosphere for this game, ” said Revolution General Manager Craig Tornberg. The game at Gillette Stadium on June 6 will be the 18th meeting between the two South American teams and the first-ever friendly between the squads. Brazil owns a 17-0 mark all-time against Venezuela, and the squads have not met since Oct. 12, 2005 when Brazil earned a 3-0 victory at home in Belem. The teams’ last four meetings have all come during South American World Cup qualifying and the June 6 match will be Brazil’s final preparation before its 2010 FIFA World Cup qualifying match against Paraguay on June 15.SITE NEWSYes, many of you have been asking what’s the “New Kakafans.net” about. Kaka says he is yet to play his best soccer

Milan won 4-1 at Livorno thanks to an Inzaghi hat-trick and Seedorf’s goal. See the gallery for more pictures. FIFA world player of the year Kaka says he still hasn’t reached his full potential.”I don’t think I’ve reached my peak yet,” Kaka was quoted as saying by the Lance sports daily on Sunday. “The year of 2007 was wonderful, but I think I can still improve a lot, physically and technically, so I think the best is still to come.”The 26-year-old AC Milan player said he expects to be at his best during the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.”I want to get there in top form,” Kaka said. “I’ll be 28, and I think it could be the age when I’ll be at the peak of my career, in a moment of excellent maturity and experience. It could be a nice World Cup for Brazil, a new cycle, with new players.”Kaka said he expects to play another 10 years at least, and is even looking at the 2014 World Cup in his native Brazil.”It will depend on my physical condition, if I’ll still be playing at a high level,” he said.Kaka also said he would welcome Ronaldinho at AC Milan.”He has an incredible talent, few players can do what he can with the ball,” Kaka said. “It would be a great acquisition by Milan.”Kaka also said he expects teammate Ronaldo to recover from his latest knee injury and play again. Galliani hints at £55m Kaka Sale

Galliani Hints At £55m Kaka SaleAdriano Galliani revealed in a meeting with shareholders that AC Milan are ₤24 million in debt, and hinted that it could be necessary to offload Brazilian superstar Kaka in order to balance the books. The 63-year-old has all but assumed the role of club president since Silvio Berlusconi vacated his post earlier this week. And in an attempt to assuage the fears of investors as the Rossoneri prepare to mount an assault on the summer transfer market, Galliani insisted that all it would take is one player sale to wipe out the club’s debt ? though not just any player, of course.“To get the books back in order it would be enough to sell Kaka to Real Madrid for £55m,” he said. The earnestness of Galliani’s statement is debatable, but the shockwave of speculation that it will undoubtedly send rippling throughout the football world is not. It has been mooted that Milan may no longer be the spending power they once were, as they have failed to introduce any great amount of youth or superstar quality into their squad in recent times. Some saw the ₤30 million sale of Andriy Shevchenko to Chelsea in 2006 as a sign that Milan had crested the hill, and news that they could look to offload Kaka will only further ingrain the belief some hold that the Rossoneri cannot afford to keep their marquee players. But one Brazilian playmaker’s exit could signal the entry of another, as Milan are currently in the midst of negotiations for troubled Barcelona star Ronaldinho. Many questioned the move when reports of Milan’s interest were confirmed, claiming that Kaka and his compatriot could not work together at San Siro. But it could be that Ronaldinho is being lined up as a somewhat thrifty (i.e. considerably less than ₤55 million) replacement for the reigning FIFA World Player of the Year. And Galliani has dismissed claims that Ronaldinho is past his best, implying the old adage that ‘form is temporary, class is permanent’.“Footballers are like cars, their condition changes year on year,” he said. “At the moment he reminds me of when he was at Paris Saint-Germain in 2003. “I don’t think he’d have a problem playing in the UEFA Cup either. Luca Toni has for Bayern Munich.”There have been questions asked about Milan’s transfer policies recently, and in particular their unwillingness to spend on even Ronaldinho and Shevchenko. Given the need for defensive reinforcements as well, one would think they need to spend close to 50 million euros this summer. With investors doubtful, it will be intriguing to see how they go about this. Under the circumstances, the big worry would be if they miss out on the Champions League and its financial gains as well, for selling their biggest star is surely something the Rossoneri will want to avoid at all costs. [GOAL.COM]*Galliani sounded like he was just citing an example, but he’s gotta be kidding if he’s serious!

    Kaka: Ronaldo is world’s best

Milan superstar Kaka has hailed Cristiano Ronaldo as the greatest player in the world.Manchester United ace Ronaldo is enjoying a stunning campaign at Old Trafford, netting a startling 38 goals. However, it was his early penalty miss in Barcelona that leaves the Champions League semi-final on a knife-edge after Kaka inspired Milan to victory over The Red Devils at the same stage of the competition last season. In an interview for the Friday Football Show on Setanta Sports 1, current World Footballer of the Year, Kaka, insists he would love to see the United winger at the San Siro.“Ronaldo is playing very well this season,” Kaka said. “He’s scoring a lot of goals, he helps the team, so at this moment, he is the best player in the world.“If he were to come here it would be great ? for me, Cristiano Ronaldo is an amazing player.”[OT] What do you guys think? Do you agree with Kaka? (Personally, meh!)

    Berlusconi backs Super League

Silvio Berlusconi has launched the first salvos on the road to a possible breakaway league in Italian and European football. The 71-year-old was appearing on the Italian “Radio Radio” programme to outline his new proposals to keep Italian football at the forefront of the sporting world. The Italy Prime Minister-elect said: “The top clubs from the big cities have to have their own championship because when you invest so much in a team it cannot be thought to go and play against a provincial side in a stadium that holds only around 20,000 fans and is half-empty anyway.”He added: “When two great teams play then the stadiums are packed and there is an incredible television audience. Then of course, only with top teams can we become main players in Europe again.”Berlusconi, who will stand down as AC Milan president after becoming Prime Minister for a third time, also proposed a separate league for teams with fewer spectators and went on to say that Italian clubs should take the English stadiums as a model and to build commercial centres around them.Looking to the future he believes that people would be “in favour” of these proposals and that “licenses could be given” for them.(SOURCE – Fox Sports) MISC UPDATE The gallery link has been updated, and 2 new photos of Kaka have been added from the Dolce and Gabbana Milan shoot – as seen from thumbnails above. Also, icons, graphics and wallpapers have been added. Once again, if you have any to contribute, please e-mail us!

    Kaka wants AC Milan captaincy

AC Milan midfielder Kaka admits he has ambitions to captain the club.”One day I would love to wear it. I am currently learning from Maldini and if one day it does happen, it would be wonderful for me,” he told Milan Channel.”The team is very close to Milan and when you have played together a long time you know everything about each other. That is the secret of a winning side – we all learn from one another.”For example, I try to treat Alexandre Pato the same way the others treated me when I arrived, I try to protect and coddle him a little bit. He will learn too.” We are adding new graphics, wallpapers and fan works to the GALLERY. So please submit any works you have to KAKAFANS.NET@GMAIL.COM so we can put them up!

Birthday Boy Kaka Tells Milan: Sign Ronaldinho

Milan star Kaka has come out in support of the proposed signing of compatriot Ronaldinho.Despite some recent problems in negotiating a transfer fee with Barcelona, Milan are still widely expected to sign Ronaldinho this summer. This transfer has received the backing of Kaka, who is keen for his national team-mate to join forces with him at San Siro. “I have always had the opportunity to play with him in the national team,” explained Kaka. “We have always got on well. To be able to play together also at club level would be truly beautiful.” Kaka also spoke of his happiness after returning to top form at the weekend during the 5-1 win over Reggina, when he scored a hat-trick. “It’s always a great feeling to score three,” admitted Kaka, who turns 26 today. “What makes me even happier is being useful to my team and my mates again.“I like to be decisive, it pleases me. A victory of this style has given us a boost to finish each of our remaining four games in the same way.” Finally the former Sao Paulo star is remaining hopeful of catching Fiorentina in fourth place, despite their four point lead over Milan. “We have to think about ourselves, conquer the 12 points available and then look at what Fiorentina are doing,” he said.“The Viola are having a great season but are still in the UEFA Cup. But, first of all, we have to think about Milan and Milan only.” SEE SOME OF THE BIRTHDAY WISHES HERE . *All of your wishes have been included in the package, but only a few were put on the site yesterday.

    5-1!

FIVE-STAR MILAN STILL IN THE HUNTAC Milan are still in the hunt for fourth spot and the final Champions League place in Serie A after a resounding 5-1 victory over relegation threatened Reggina.A Kaka hat-trick that included two first half penalties and late strikes from Filippo Inzaghi and Alexandre Pato made it an easy afternoon for the hosts at the San Siro.Reggina’s hopes were briefly raised when Edgar Barreto scored with an outstanding long-range effort but the result leaves Amaranto bottom of the league and staring relegation in the face.Starting the game seven points behind Fiorentina, who won Saturday, Milan were awarded their first penalty in the seventh minute after Kaka’s weaving run was brought to an end when he tangled with Francesco Modesta in the box.The Brazilian midfielder sent Andrea Campagnolo the wrong way from the spot. The early goal gave the home side a boost and it was nearly two after 11 minutes when Kaka’s mishit cross from the left wing was tipped over by Campagnolo. The Brazilian ace was at the heart of everything Milan did and he created a decent chance for Filippo Inzaghi after half an hour but his low drive was again kept out by the busy Campagnolo. An intense spell of pressure finally brought a second goal for Rossoneri after they were awarded their second spot-kick of the match on 33 minutes.Clarence Seedorf was tripped by Luca Vigiani and Kaka again stepped up and sent the keeper the wrong way, slotting his penalty to the right this time.Milan’s dominance restricted Reggina to long distance efforts but it was one of these that surprisingly allowed them back in to the game after 39 minutes.A poor clearance fell to Barreto 25 yards out and he produced an unstoppable drive that rifled in to the top corner leaving Zeljko Kalac in the Rossoneri goal helpless. However, the home side were not put off their stride and they twice went close to restoring their two-goal lead before half-time when strikes from Seedorf and Andrea Pirlo went just wide.Reggina made a bright start to the second half and just after the hour mark they almost equalised as a Franco Brienza cross was just headed over by the stretching Francesco Cozza. But, just three minutes later, Milan scored again with Kaka grabbing his hat-trick thanks to a smart finish at the far post following a Pirlo cross. On 72 minutes, the home side extended their lead further when a good passing move saw substitute Pato hit a low shot on to the post with Filippo Inzaghi in the perfect position to tap home the rebound from six yards. With Reggina offering little opposition to the surge of home attacks, Milan scored five for the fourth time this season after 89 minutes when Yohan Gourcuff’s right cross from the right found Pato who was in acres of space. The young Brazilian was allowed to head home his eighth goal of the season and secure three comfortable but vital points for Rossoneri .VISIT THE GALLERY!Click HERE for new pictures.* Also, if any of you are bored, read Kaka’s World Cup blog (all over again!) here.
