Brazil begins US friendly tour against Canada

Brazil is still a five-time world champion, even if it has come to the United States for an eight-day, two-game tour without some of the more recognizeable names to Americans.Brazil will be without injured Kaka and star-crossed Ronaldinho and Ronaldo, who don’t appear to be coming back to the national team any time soon.Saturday’s game against Canada will be its first game in Seattle since 1976, when it beat a select side from the old North American Soccer League in the USA Bicentennial Cup.Dunga, Brazil’s first-time manager and captain of its 1994 World Cup championship team, emphasized his team will be facing the challenges of fatigue and motivation in these U.S. friendlies. He knows many players might prefer to be with their families following their European seasons.Instead, following Saturday’s game, Brazil travels to Boston to play Venezuela on June 6. Qualifying for the 2010 World Cup resumes June 14 at Paraguay. Then on June 18, Brazil hosts archrival Argentina.”These games are absolutely important, because we are reconvening players after a long period of time off,” Dunga said of the U.S. tour, through an interpreter.”Unfortunately, Kaka is not with us,” Robinho said before Friday’s 90-minute training session. “But we know how to work to get ready.”Dunga added more firepower this week by recalling Adriano to the national team for only the second time since the 2006 World Cup. The 26-year-old striker had an impressive six-month stint while on loan from Italy to Sao Paulo.”He has shown the determination, the willpower, to be on the national team,” Dunga said.Pato : Not as devout as KakaAccording to the “Journal”, Alexandro Pato disclosed to GQ Magazine that although he is an Evangelist like Kaka, he is not looking to follow his footsteps anytime soon.Pato, who is dating Brazilian actress Sthefany Brito, says disclosed to GQ : “To be a virgin when you get married? Not unless I’m Kaka.”He added : “I do have religious beliefs, but I don’t follow it ‘literally’”.In addition, in the interview, Pato said that he wants to marry Brito “eventually” but it’s still too early to make a decision. This interview feature with Pato comes out in GQ on Friday…. (please, if any of you can scan this!)LOL… so Pato is trying to say that he is the next ‘bad boy’ … or something.SOURCE : ASSOCIATED PRESS, GLOBOESPORTE

    More updates!

Kaka resting well at homeAfter his successful surgery at the Pasteur Hospital in Rio de Janeiro last week, Kaka is now resting at home while undergoing physiotheraphy.”My knee is progressing well and I’ll continue to treat it in Reffis (a rehabilitation centre in Sao Paolo),” he said.Ricky also confirmed that he was invited by Clarence Seedorf to take part in a friendly match in honour of South African leader Nelson Mandela. The game will be held in Germany on July 12.Leonardo : No conflict between CBF & AC MilanFormer AC Milan great and current club scout and agent, Leonardo, claims that there are no conflicts between the CBF and AC Milan in the matter of Kaka’s no-show at the Beijing Olympic Games. AC Milan have decided not to release the Brazilian, and instead, sent him for surgery.Leonardo, who accompanied Kaka to Rio De Janiero said : “This was something that the media might have discussed. But there is an understanding that the CBF has that the Olympics are not part of their calendar. So Milan is not required to release (Kaka)”AC Milan news…Out-of-favour AC Milan striker Alberto Gilardino has signed for Fiorentina, the two Serie A clubs said on Wednesday. The 25-year-old endured a frustrating season where he was often behind Filippo Inzaghi and Alexandre Pato in the pecking order at the San Siro. He managed just seven league goals and missed out on a place in Italy’s Euro 2008 squad despite helping the Azzurri win the World Cup two years ago.Milan have made clear they want to bring in at least one striker in the close season, with Chelsea’s Didier Drogba and Andriy Shevchenko on their list of targets alongside Barcelona’s Samuel Eto’o. Gilardino would have faced extra competition next term so has decided to move on, ironically to the team that beat Milan to the final Champions League qualifying place in Serie A this season. The former Parma forward, who has spent three years at Milan, almost quit the club in the last close season. Injury Updates 2

Kaka leaves hospital after successful knee surgeryAC Milan midfielder Kaka left the hospital Saturday after successful arthroscopic knee surgery and will begin physical therapy to prepare for two World Cup qualifiers next month.”I’m going to get ready. The doctor said I have a chance to play,” Kaka said in a televised interview as he left the Pasteur Hospital.Dr. Jose Luiz Runco, the head physician of the Brazilian national team, operated on the 26-year-old Friday. He said the operation was a success but declined to set a timetable for Kaka’s return.”It was as if he had a pebble in his shoe,” he explained, “the damage was done by a strain to the joint due to movements of rotation, acceleration, and braking.”The recovery times? We will evaluate the situation day by day. Certainly we don’t want to rush things just so he can play with the Brazilian national team.”It’s certain that Kaka, the reigning FIFA World Player of the Year, will miss Brazil’s friendlies against Canada in Seattle on May 31, and Venezuela in Boston on June 6.His goal is to return for World Cup qualifiers against Paraguay on June 15 and Argentina on June 18. Brazil trails the two in the race to qualify for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. Fan PhotoThis photo is courtesy of Rafa Jes?s from Spain, who met Ricky when he was in Seville! Kaka out for 3 months

Milan playmaker Kaka will undergo an operation to his left knee on Friday and face a lengthy lay off, the club have revealed. The Rossoneri’s magician is currently in Brazil where he underwent examinations to his knee by both Milan and the Brazil squad doctors. The tests confirmed the worst and the club have announced that he requires surgery. “Kaka will undergo surgery to his left knee on Friday and his rehabilitation period will be confirmed by Professor Runco, who will carry out the operation,” read a statement on the club’s official website. The player has been complaining of severe pain in his knee for most of the season but he has carried on nevertheless. However, he is now likely to miss Brazil’s summer tour of the United States as well as two vital World Cup 2010 qualifiers against Paraguay and Argentina in August. It is not yet known how long Kaka will be out for, but it seems like it will take several weeks before he is back on the training pitch.Milan will be hoping he makes a quick recovery as they will need him back in top condition for next season as they look to mount a serious challenge for the Scudetto next season. Injury Update / Rooney the potato head

Soccer-Brazilian Kaka may need knee surgery: reportBrazil and AC Milan playmaker Kaka may require an operation on his left knee, Globo television reported on Wednesday. The World player of the Year will be examined on Friday by Brazil team doctor Jose Luis Runco in Rio de Janeiro to decide whether he will have to undergo surgery, Globo said. The surgery would put Kaka out of action for about 15 days, ruling him out of the friendlies against Canada and Venezuela, the report said. He could also miss next month’s World Cup qualifers away to Paraguay and at home to Argentina. On Sunday, AC Milan said they would not allow him to take part in the Olympic Games tournament as an overage player. The 26-year-old has been troubled this season by fitness problems. 2. Kaka Didn’t Deserve Golden Ball ? Rooney AN EXCERPT : Rooney then went on to speak about team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo, and he says that the Portuguese winger should have won the Ballon d’Or last year instead of Milan superstar Kaka.”I am convinced that last season Cristiano Ronaldo deserved the Ballon d’Or,” said Rooney.“Kak? only won it because Milan won the Champions League.” [Read here].Sorry, but Rooney needs to shut his f*king fat mouth in this article before I rip his fat potato head off in a matter of seconds. TBQH, Rooney will never be as good as Ricky and this is pathetic. Kaka deserved every award he got last year because he IS the best and more all-rounded than certain bloody divers who know how to cry every time they lose.

Uefa Cup Not That Bad – Kak

Brazilian playmaker Kak? doesn’t think it would be a disaster if Milan only play in the Uefa Cup.AC Milan star Kak? gave an interview in which he said that it’s highly unlikely he will leave the club and that he wouldn’t mind too much playing in the Uefa Cup.”There’s only one chance I will leave Milan, actually two,” he said. “The first is that my objectives and those of the club are no longer the same, the second is that they tell me they want to sell me because they need to make a new start. I don’t think either of these possibilities are likely.”Some cynics are saying that Kak? won’t accept playing in the Uefa Cup and will leave in case Milan don’t make it into the Champions League, but the Golden Ball winner disagrees.”It can happen that we play in the Uefa Cup for once, and if it does happen we will play to win it. And we want to win the Scudetto in any case,” he added. “It’s been too long since we’ve been competitive in the league.”Asked if he enjoys playing as a striker, he said: “I didn’t like it at first, but after a year I got used to playing as a second striker and now I like it. I play in a 30-40 meter radius instead of 70 meters, and it’s easier to find the goal. I like it like this.”When it was pointed out to him that the Uefa Cup is the only trophy Milan have never won, he said: “There’s good in everything. I hope that they can win it and complete the palmares in 12 or 15 years. Around the time I’ll retire.”SOURCE: Goal.com
