PELLEGRINI SAYS ITS DIFFICULT TO DROP KAKA

    DV585598

Manuel Pellegrini has admitted that leaving either Cristiano Ronaldo or Kaka on the bench for any match is a risk as he prepares his team for the clash against Olympique Marseille on Wednesday evening at the Bernabeu.

The Real Madrid coach chose to name Kaka as a substitute against Tenerife at the weekend and then take the Portuguese star off early. That decision worked for Kaka as he went on and changed the match, but Ronaldo appeared to be upset by the decision to take him off with just over ten minutes to go.

“I know I will be taking a risk if I leave Cristiano Ronaldo or Kaka on the bench, but their talent doesn’t detract from all the other players,” Pellegrini told a press conference.

“There will come a time when we have to sit them. Not everyone may agree, but the players know it and understand. Every player is responding to what I ask for.

“Rotations aren’t a fairness problem. They are done based on performance, minutes played, the opponent. We also decided based on the two and a half hours of training each day.

“You cannot determine what the final numbers at season’s end will be by using rotations.”

    KAKA SCORES FOR REAL

    Par2796988

Real Madrid coach Manuel Pellegrini was pleased with the contribution from Kaka after his introduction at half-time guided Real Madrid to a 3-0 win over Tenerife at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Los Blancos looked below-par in the first half but after the former AC Milan maestro’s introduction, he imposed his influence on the match and also got his name on the scoresheet. Karim Benzema had earlier notched a crucial double, and Pellegrini was quick to admit that influence of Kaka.

He said, “It is not a mystery that Kaka changes the way that the side plays. We tried to remove him from the side because we have Champions League fixture in midweek, but we did not play well in the first half.

However we played far better in the second period, we created space and had good chances. I am pleased with the win.” / via Goal and GettyImages

KAKA : NOT IN RONALDO’S SHADOW

Kaka has insisted that he is not in Cristiano Ronaldo’s shadow at Real Madrid after the Portuguese star started to impress with his free-kicks in recent games.

The Brazilian has yet to find the net despite some encouraging displays and his team-mate has taken all the headlines with his goalscoring feats.

Critics have said that Kaka needs to improve and prevent himself from being in Ronaldo’s shadow, but the player himself is insistent that he is not.

“I can assure you that I am not. I have the job of providing goal assists and have three to my name so far. Everyone must understand what his role is;” he told AS.

“Everything Cristiano has done in recent days was his own doing. He has performed his job well and the team has benefited.”

A lack of goals has also seen Kaka asked again and again by reporters when he thinks the will score and how many goals he thinks he can bag this term.

“It isn’t an issue for me. I am fine. I have provided many assists and am fine like that. We are winning matches and that is all that counts. I will score at some point, but fans shouldn’t worry,” he continued.

“I couldn’t promise a certain number of goals and I am still at zero, but my first will come. I also like to pass and provide assists because that is my main job.

“I don’t deny that I like to score, but I am not worried about not doing so yet.”

    KAKA ON ESPANYOL WIN

Kaka inspired Madrid to a 3-0 victory over Espanyol last night. Kaka has yet to open his Real account since joining from AC Milan, but showed a touch of class to set up Esteban Granero for his first Real goal and create the second for stand-in captain Guti.

He said : “I am very pleased to have provided two assists. In the end, that is my role. And it makes me as happy as scoring a goal.

“We showed that we are a good team, because we adapted well despite the changes. The key was that we played a great first half, and that made it easy. It has been a great week for me, because we qualified for the World Cup with Brazil, and now we have won our second league game.”

    KAKA BACK IN MADRID

Kaka returned to training with Real Madrid on Wednesday after helping Brazil to victory over Argentina at the weekend, while Sergio Ramos took another step towards being declared fit.

The duo are both hoping to be able to be part of the squad to face Espanyol on Saturday in Cornella-El Prat as Los Merengues return to league action after the international break.

Brazil opted to allow Kaka to fly back to Spain, as he picked up a booking against Argentina and is suspended for the national team’s encounter with Chile.

After warming up with the players that were not called up for their countries, Kaka then trained to one side with fitness expert Carlos Lalin before heading to the gym for a workout.

In other news, Brazil will face England in a mouthwatering friendly encounter on November 14. They defeated Chile 4-2 yesterday.

    KAKA : THERE’S NO COMPETITION

Kaka claims there is no “individual” competition despite Brazil’s win over Argentina.

“I tried to put myself at odds with several players, but it is meaningless. There was no duel between me and Messi, but a game in which Brazil won with all the merits.

But for the fan, who may allow such an assessment, there was no doubt that Kaka was vastly superior to the Argentine ace in Saturday’s duel in Rosario.

“I am very happy with this victory. Even more because we had a great performance. The team was smart and we knew how defeat the opponent’s strengths and exploit our greatest assets.”

    KAKA : ARGENTINA WILL CRACK

    quadros030909_2

Brazil star Kaka believes Argentina will crack under pressure when the old rivals meet on Saturday in their 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™ qualifier in Rosario.

Argentina are only fourth in the regional group, five points behind the group-leading Brazilians, and only four teams go through automatically, hence Real Madrid forward Kaka says the nerves will get to Lionel Messi and company as they go all out for the win they need to catch up.

“They are going to start off a little tense and I think this can play in our favour. There are many ways in which we can try to exploit the fact the pressure is on Argentina,” said Kaka.

They (Argentina) are going to start off a little tense and I think this can play in our favour, said Brazil forward Kaka.

But he added it would be tough for both sides. “The game won’t be easy for anyone – with a Brazil v Argentina match there will be a number of top talents out there with players capable of swinging the match at any moment.

“Our target is to beat Argentina and qualify for the World Cup. It would be ideal if Brazil could go through against Argentina,” said Kaka, who will be winning his 70th cap.

Kaka said he wanted to play down his duel with Barcelona’s Messi. “I would vote for him today (as world player of the year) for all that he won (last season) with Barcelona. I believe Messi is the big favourite to win the prize as FIFA’s best player this year.
